Old Table

It must go, dear, I know.
Too big for just two, duty done.
Yes, it has seen better days.
Never was level.
Hear it thumping in time
to a child's nursery rhyme?
Legs carry battle scars
from high chairs (and a wheel chair),
pull toys and roller skates.
On top, the story in Sanskrit
of our children learning to write.
